The Avocets have now flown from the Far Flood! I intend to now
stop these reports till next Year!
17th August:-
10am; Three Adult Avocets and One Immature
on The Far Flood. The
Young bird has some off white patches but otherwise looks like
an adult, it is spending many hours sleeping!!
16th August:- One
Avocet and One Young on the Far Flood!
The Young Avocet has very near Adult plumage now!

Avocets and One Young on The Far Flood!
The Viewpooint is Dangerously slippy due to the consistantly
Wet Weather, I do not intend to use
it unless there is Seven Days of fine weather (Very
unlikely)!

No Avocets found, it looks like the Adult and One Young have
flown (the water levels in the Allen Pool are low). However there
was
a confirmed sighting of the young Avocet on the 6th August!

morning. I knew there was a predator about from the commotion
of the waders and wildfowl and Little Egrets as they mobbed the

Chicks! The Third Nest has Hatched (Three
Chicks) [Two already counted], a
Fourth Nest Has Hatched, the adults swam the Four
tiny Chicks accross
to the Islands! I suspect there is a fifth brood but they are
in an inlet that is very dificult to see!!!

more Avocets. Had a good look at The Allen Pool and there were Many
Gulls Sitting but no Gull Chicks to be seen! It must Be
a Fox/Foxes, a couple of Crows could not clear all the Gull Chicks
(there must
be some well fed Fox Cubs nearby)!!

this afternoon at 3.15pm.
A Grey Heron turned up and was mobbed by all eight plus few
Black-headed Gulls. I had to leave before I could see any result
from the
mobbing, but not much progress was being made in seeing the
